AURP Brings Industry Leaders to Manassas for Immersive Innovation Experience

The Association of University Research Parks (AURP) will host its Insights Into Research Parks program in Manassas, Virginia, on April 22–23, 2026, offering a hands-on look at the innovation ecosystem anchored by George Mason University.

This two-day experience is designed for thought leaders, economic developers, research park professionals, and university and industry partners seeking practical insight into how research-driven communities grow and succeed. Attendees will explore the infrastructure, partnerships, and culture that support research, commercialization, and regional economic development.

Participants will gain direct exposure to the Innovation District surrounding George Mason University’s Science and Technology Campus. The program includes site visits, guided tours, and discussions with leaders across academia, government, and industry. Featured stops include advanced manufacturing facilities, wet lab incubators, and collaborative workspaces that support startups and scaling companies.

Sessions throughout the program examine topics such as workforce development in semiconductor manufacturing, the growth of life sciences ecosystems, commercialization pathways for university research, and the role of public-private partnerships in building innovation districts. Attendees will also explore how placemaking, mobility solutions, and international soft-landing programs contribute to long-term regional growth.

The agenda blends formal programming with networking opportunities, including a welcome reception in historic downtown Manassas and a closing dinner with industry leaders.

This site visit offers practical takeaways for organizations launching new research parks, expanding innovation assets, or building collaborative models to drive economic impact.
