Chris Mathia
Entrepreneur in Residence
Chris Mathia serves as an Entrepreneur in Residence at BHI where he leverages his expertise in commercialization strategies to support early-stage medical device and life sciences organizations as they advance toward market entry.
Mr. Mathia brings deep experience commercializing innovations focused on pediatrics, as well as a broad history of leadership across prominent healthcare technology organizations, including Cerner Corporation, Hyland Software, and Thomson Reuters.
Most recently, he served as CEO of Innara Health, where he led the company through a period of significant growth and transformation. Under his leadership, Innara Health expanded the market reach of its flagship product, The NTrainer—a 510(k)-cleared, Class II medical device that provides assessment and therapeutic intervention to help preterm infants transition to independent oral feeding. During his tenure, he successfully guided the company through a comprehensive reorganization, secured new funding, and achieved consistent year-over-year revenue growth. Additionally, he oversaw the development, regulatory submission, and commercial launch of the fully redesigned NTrainer 2.0, which contributed to the company’s acquisition by Cardinal Health in early 2023.
Prior to the acquisition by Cardinal Health, Innara Health was backed by a consortium of investors and advisors, including BioHealth Innovation, Children’s National’s NCC-PDI, Kansas City-based venture capital firm B.O.M., and private equity firm Flyover Capital. Additionally, Mr. Mathia was a member of the prestigious MedTech Innovator Pediatric cohort (2020) where Innara Health was the recipient of a $50k grant from the FDA from the "Make Your Pitch for Kids" competition.
Mr. Mathia resides in Olathe, Kansas, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Kansas.
