|Ethan Byler leads program development at BioHealth Innovation, Inc. (BHI) a public-private partnership serving the biohealth cluster of Central Maryland. These programs have included business development and technology transfer partnerships, SBIR and federal funding assistance programs, BHI's Startup Package and direct support to BHI"s portfolio companies.
Ethan has spent his career supporting entrepreneurial growth as a practitioner in innovation-based economic development Before joining BHI, Ethan lead business activities at a biomedical research institute, an economic development consulting firm and at a global engineering professional society. Most recently, he was the Manager of Global Development, Entrepreneurship & Innovation at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) where he managed programs that impact ASME's development of technology-based solutions that target emerging markets and managing a portfolio of breakthrough innovation projects to expand new business models for the organization
Ethan was the Business Manager of the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center of Bucks County and the Institute for Hepatitis & Virus Research, and was the Coordinator of the Keystone Innovation Zone program there. He led business and economic development activities and management of the overall programming and business operations for the campus focused on translational biomedical research. Ethan has also worked as a consultant focused on county to international level innovation and technology-based economic development strategies for a consulting firm in Washington, DC,
Ethan holds a Master's Degree from the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from the University of Charleston.
Ethan and his wife Kara live in Rockville with their daughters Sophia and Juliana. They are active "foodies" that enjoy cooking and spending time with family.
