The Maryland Community College Cyber Competition will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017 on Montgomery College’s Germantown Campus in the Bioscience Education Center. The competition will start at noon and the top three teams will be awarded prizes. Ten Maryland community colleges will be participating, bringing almost 100 students to the competition.
The program begins at 11 a.m. with a greeting from the Germantown Campus provost followed by presentations from University of Maryland University College (UMUC) and United Solutions. UMUC will present on the many educational and industry opportunities available through cybersecurity. United Solutions’ presentation will focus on their Bubblee application, the TAACCCT funded application that helps students and businesses connect.
MCPS Cyber Forensics Competition
The Montgomery County Public Schools Cyber Forensics Competition is set to be held Wednesday, March 15, also on the Germantown Campus in the Bioscience Education Center. Over 150 students from high schools around Montgomery County will be participating.
The competition is from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will be followed by two speakers, Tina Williams, President/CEO TCecure, and Vennard Wright, CIO WSSC.
Tina Williams was a Meyerhoff Scholar and a University Scholar at the University of Maryland Baltimore County receiving a B.S. in computer science. Ms. Williams also holds a master’s in management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
Vennard Wright earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Maryland. He most recently served as the chief information officer for Prince George’s County where he provided tactical and strategic leadership.
